...Yes, I am certain. He can manage his own obligations without adding to yours.
[there's something he could say here, about Connor trying too hard, but he won't. Instead, the question catches him off guard and Hanzo hesitates, the connection vibrating a little in reaction.]
Per...haps. It has been a while... since I last saw my brother. [Because as last he recalled, before the night he'd been experiencing before he showed up here, He'd been certain that Genji was dead by his own hand. Unintentionally perhaps, a microblip flash of red and the glint of a bloodied sword passes through the connection.]
[Hmmm. That is a very particular image to have when speaking about family... and Connor has to wonder at the implications, though he doesn't bring them up. It leads to an unfortunate one in particular, and for a brief moment he thinks about his own actions, harming his own kind in his own world.
Unbeknownst to him, though, one of those thoughts escapes to the other end of the link: the image of a blonde android, covered in a blue liquid where parts of him have been torn off by gunfire, as he calmly states You lied to me, Connor.
It lasts no longer than Hanzo's own flash of memory, and Connor simply moves on, speaking with an understanding tone.]
I see. I suppose it must be complicated. As an android, I still don't have much experience with family.
[Okay Connor that's a little...uh. Jarring. But like the android, Hanzo doesn't address it. He files it away. He's aware now, at this point at least, that there's something strange going on with the amulet communication. Hanzo's always been one to stay in his own lane, but perhaps at a later date he might be willing to question what he saw a flash of.
Whatever the context, Hanzo knew (perhaps all too well) just how personal and private it seemed to be.]
Hm. Family is not always blood, but what you make of it. It is likely you might know more than you think, or possible you could in the future.
I think I still have a lot to learn, but I'll keep that in mind. It's been an enlightening experience just making friends in the time I've been here.
[Even if he weren't constantly seeking out new things to learn and experience, navigating emotions and relationships as a person rather than a machine alone would be fascinating enough.]
What is your brother like, if you don't mind me asking? Aside from irresponsible.
[The joke is even going to get a snort of laughter. Genuine.]
He is... very different than when I knew him before. He seems more serene. More responsible, but still not. An improvement, but not perfection. He's much more skilled too.
[he's mostly just... listing things as he thinks of them. He's still not particularly close to genji, and the awkward list may just make that obvious.]
[It's about what Connor would have listed for someone when he was first dispatched out for his missions, so he doesn't think much of it for the moment.]
Nobody is perfect, supposedly.
[Not even super advanced detective prototypes!]
It's often difficult for people to change their habits, so it's not surprising he would still have some of the same tendencies even after a long period of time.
[This is one of those things that he knows because of his social and psychological modules, but does not necessarily understand personally yet. It makes for conversation, at least.]
no subject
